Savory Treat - Inhalo Salt Therapy

First published in ELEQT on 10 May 2012.

Jessie has always been interested in trying out Inhalo's salt spa, and was super tempted when she found out that they had a Valuup deal, so Jasmine and I went along with her to find out what the fuss was about.

The place is tucked right behind W52 and in the same building as Sheer, making it a convenient getaway during lunch hours or before happy hour. We were greeted by Caroline, who explained to us where the concept came from. The European salt miners were found to be free from breathing problems or skin allergies, so the Europeans have been recreating the salt cave environment around the world to provide the helpful remedy, and Inhalo is the first of its kind in Hong Kong, after being personally tried and test by Caroline and her family!

We were lucky to get a quick tour around the premises before our treatment started, and surprisingly, we were first greeted by a very adorable kiddies' room. Caroline explained that the treatment, being entirely holistic, was suitable for even toddlers at six months old. To make the experience more interesting for them, the room is filled with an array of colourful toys, which made the three of us were pretty tempted to opt for this room instead of the regular one we got. There is also the grown up room for six and the couples' suite as well, so whether you are here with your baby nieces and nephews, your friends or your significant other, there will always be a suitable place for you!

For hygienic reasons, the three of us were directed to put on some foot covers in a high tech machine, and we stored our stuff in their lockers with our iPhones safely tucked away, so that they won't interfere with our treatment. Our treatment room has this raw chic look that mimics a real salt mine, with rock hard mineral salt walls and loose salt crystals covering the floor. After Caroline set us in with soothing music, yummy vanilla tea and an assortment of fruits, she closed the door and started the machine that blew very fine salt particles in for us to absorb. I have always imagined that we would be entirely covered in salt and we would be leaving in a mess, but that wasn't what happened at all, since the grains were so fine we couldn't even see it in the air. The room is lined with magazines, but Jasmine and I were too busy catching up with each other, while Jessie was pretty affected by the salt and fell asleep for most of the hour on her comfy sofa chair.

The experience was very cozy, and as we left, Caroline introduced us to their small shop, which is filled with a salt-related range of skin care and breathing related products. They even have a small salt inhaler for you to take away and reproduce the experience at home!

What's more? Starting this month, they are launching a new foot massage treatment, with a natural mineral salt soak, scrub, plus a relaxing foot massage that goes on simultaneously with your salt therapy, so that you can make full use of your time. You can also opt for their new head and shoulder massage while your salt therapy goes on, winding down and curing your allergies at the same time. Book your next session here now!
