Spring Shopping with Costume National

Published exclusively in this site by Keely on 30 April 2012.

A few days ago, Candy invited Gillian and I to visit Costume National's newly opened shop at Harbour City.

At the entrance, I was totally engrossed by the vibrant colors of their collection, which rather attracted the passersby through their magnificent glass pane windows. This spacious store has two floors, with the upper floor displaying their women’s collection and the lower floor exclusively for men. Great place to take your significant other along!

The brand was founded by creative director Ennio Capasa and his brother Carlo in 1986, and they have built a name for themselves by creating unique designs using special fabrics and cuts that delightfully blend minimalism with Rock & Roll.

On Keely: 3/4 Length Silky Dress in pink. High-Heeled Sandals with pink & white belt details.
On Gillian: Full-Length Jacket in red. Wooden Wedge.

This super light-weighted satin dress suits me best, with its girly appearance and the splendor of the smooth silk. I particularly like this 3/4 length dress paired with the high-heels, since it makes me look rather slender.

Gillian’s pick is also one of the hottest new arrivals in the store. This eye-catching jacket is made out of plain paper-like weave with almost no hem, perfectly flaunting their core idea of simplicity and innovation. This would definitely make you an eye candy among the Centralers, since the rest of the crowd is always in black.

On Keely: Blazer in solid bright blue. Wedge in this season’s signature pattern.
On Gillian: Knitwear with the special cut cardigan. Wedge in beige.

For the second round, I tried on something totally different from what I would usually wear. This bright blue blazer made with innovative technology shows a more androgynous and sporty side of me. I particularly like their wedges because they are extremely comfy! On the other hand, Gillian picked out a pair of wedges in beige and chose the knitwear and the cardigan with special cuttings, which are good for those who are bored of the traditional hum-dee-dum cardigans.

As I am a huge fan of simple yet original tailoring, I was totally fascinated by their designs for the season. What’s more? You don’t even need to be a super model to look good in their pieces! Now is a superb time to shop for your spring wardrobe. Just make sure you clear out some of the old stuff before visiting their shops.
