Hong Kong has been enjoying a streak of amazing weather for the past few weeks, making it the perfect time for me to head over to the island's south side and check out Sense of Touch's innovative Muusa treatment at their Repulse Bay Day Spa.
From the moment you enter Sense of Touch's Repulse Bay Day Spa, you would know that you have stumbled into a relaxing haven in amidst of our hectic city. The décor spells out colonial elegance with Asian accents, and though the space is not humongous, it still maintains the feeling of spaciousness. Upon my arrival, I was presented with a choice of chrysanthemum and rose tea. I chose the chrysanthemum for a cooling effect, and the spa manager, Jumi Lee, gave me a tour of their premises while I drank up.
At the back of the spa, there is a quaint area for manis and pedis, being decorated with photos of old Hong Kong which I am totally in love with. They also have an outdoor relaxation patio area where you can host chill sparties for your girlies! Inside the spa, each of their six treatment rooms is named after an exotic spice, from Tamarind to Saffron to Anise, and I was led into one which also happens to be their couples' suite. My masseuse, Nicki, was also quick to offer me a complimentary hand massage. They really know how to pamper you and would try their best to satisfy your every whim!
Now back to their latest Muusa treatment, where music synchronises with every massage movement! Nicki explained to me that during the massage, she will be wearing special sensor-installed armbands, which will detect her muscle movements and signal the Muusa device attached to the music player. This will, in turn, create music that flows according to the pace and pressure of her massage strokes. It sounds rather complicated, I know, and just you have to try it for yourself to understand how it works! It was truly an unique and multi-sensory experience, and you would feel the music flow as you start drifting away. I tried really hard to not to fall asleep so that I could observe the connection, but that was proven super difficult as Nicki had such an amazing touch.
