Last Minute Shopping at Christmas Fairs

Published exclusively in this site on 15 December 2011.

With only ten days left, Christmas is driving real close now. Have you finished all your Christmas shopping yet? No? Uh-oh. No worries, here are a few Christmas Fairs for you to finish the deal painlessly, perhaps maybe even with a bit of fun! Happy Shopping!

Shopping/Tea Two-in-One

Another Fine Day, a little tearoom on Mid-levels, is where you can experience the European farmhouse atmosphere and perhaps even bring a piece of the feeling back home. Their unique Dear Me Afternoon Set gift certificate would make the best Christmas present for any hopeless romantic, offering a heartfelt afternoon at their drawing room to write a love letter in the old fashion way while enjoying their yummy tea set, so your friend can drink up on the Fortnum and Mason tea while splattering their feelings with ink and paper, which they would later mail out on your friend's behalf. What a Jane Austen-esque experience!

They carry some amazing American china from Rosana Tableware, quintessentially British Katie Alice Collection of tea ware, quaint German designed stuff toys from Andreas Linzner, and exquisite stationery from Anna Griffins, so you can head over and shop for your friends who enjoy an old school tea party. They also offer music therapy workshops and drawing classes. Book out a Christmas class with your friends and enjoy your time together during the festive season!

The Girls Room by Queen Eco is Queen Eco's Christmas pop-up store, which brings you everything from vintage goods to handmade gems to exclusive designs from all over the world. Their shop design is influenced by Parisian Chic, so imagine being invited to a flat in Paris, with a welcoming and tasteful living room filled with warm sunbeam, where you can peek around and take a pick of what you fancy.

If your friends are into the vintage style then you will easily find their Christmas present at the Vintage Corner, which offers a series of unique vintage accessories including a variety of timeless designer brooches. There is really only just one of each, so remember to get there early and take your pick! Their Eco-Concept selections, on the other hand, are for your friends who are uber environmentally conscious. From French upcycling leather handbags to organic skincare to Canadian handmade accessories, there will be something for everyone.

If you are throwing a Christmas party at home this year, you can't afford to miss out on their Organic Delights section, which gives you a great selection of organic food from Italy and Switzerland, as well as organic wine made of Chenin Blanc from Loire Valley. To ensure they maintain a quality shopping experience, their store is opened by appointment only, so make sure you RSVP first before you head over!

Leave your hectic schedule behind for a wee while, and enjoy the distinctively French shopping experience with their complimentary premium organic tea, organic meringuettes, and sweet wine. You could also throw a small Christmas party at their chic Parisian living room, which could be on themes including wine pairing or DIY natural skincare workshop, so contact them for further details!

Shanghai Tang created a Pop-Up Festive Mongolian Village for this Christmas by scattering a bunch of authentic Mongolia yurts across Hong Kong's skyline, each filled with Shanghai Tang's luxurious Christmas collections. Their focus on the nomadic theme makes the shopping experience rather exotic, and their limited edition Mongolian collection will definitely make fantastic Christmas presents.

Situated right on the rooftop of Central Pier 4, not only is it within walking distance from IFC, it also has the magnificent harbour views as its backdrop. I reckon their bespoke Imperial Tailoring service will make a fantastic Christmas treat as well, fusing East meets West in some exquisite couture wear.

Christmas is more than just caring for your loved ones. Show that you are a supportive consumer by visiting the 46th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo Promotional Activities and foster self-reliance for the socially disadvantaged by grabbing your Christmas presents from the Social Enterprises' booths!

The HKBPE is probably one of the most iconic collective memories for Hong Kongers. For the older generation, it brings back recollections from the very first of beauty pageants in Hong Kong, while for the youngsters, it is where we get our annual stockpile of noodles to bring back to our halls abroad, feeding us for the entire of the coming year.

The Home Affairs Department is sponsoring 16 social enterprises to set up booths in the HKBPE for promoting their products and services, with everything from organic food to specialty crafts to cycling eco-tourism. Show your friends and family to a better way of spending by supporting the social enterprises schemes!
